We are very fortunate to be close to many different food establishments covering a range of palettes and budgets, below is just a sample of our recommendations with links on their names for more information.
The Tom Cobley Tavern Just 1 mile from Swallows at Falkedon "is a family friendly pub in Spreyton where everybody is welcome, from the young to the old, from singles, to couples, to families; everyone who comes through our door will receive a warm and friendly welcome from ourselves and our staff. We even welcome dogs in to our bar and snug area and if they are really good they may even have a bowl of drinking water and a doggy treat given to them!"
The Railway Inn, North Tawton "We are a small and simple, yet a unique and characterful Devon country pub. 'A proper job pub' as it's known around these parts. We're a bit off the beaten track but 'found out over', and what you will always find here is a warm welcome, with hearty banter and laughter guaranteed. This hidden gem offers good local ales, which include Teignworthy, Skinners, Sharps and Blackawton. The dining room is kept busy with a good range of traditional pub food. Our meat is supplied by a local butcher and our fish is delivered fresh from St. Ives, so local waters. And if you've room for a final bite, then Claire's home made desserts are highly recommended, or alternatively some local Dartmoor Ice-Cream."
The Duck at Yeoford Recently changed hands and redecorated. A country pub and restaurant." Offering locally brewed Devon ales, including our own label, Muddy Duck ale, along with premium Estrella lager, Sandford Cider, bottled Guinness and an eclectic list of 47 wines, plus 20 sold by the glass. We also have our own wine label; red, white and rosé. Add soft drinks and spirits, plus freshly brewed coffee and tea, practically on tap, there's something for everyone"
The Chagford Inn "Our aim is to produce as much in-house as possible ranging from baking our own bread to curing our own bacon, coppa, bresaola, salt beef, pastrami, fish and our version of Serrano ham. We use as many local suppliers as possible to keep our kitchen stocked with beef, lamb, game and fish brought in daily from the Devon coast." Gidleigh Park Hotel Restaurant (for that special celebration) "At the heart of the hotel, the elegant and intimate award-winning restaurant provides a sophisticated backdrop to Executive Chef, Chris Simpson's decadent tasting and à la carte menus. Join us for lunch, afternoon tea or dinner and enjoy your choice of tasting or à la carte menus, dedicated to the finest seasonal ingredients."
Bovey Castle Hotel "Devon’s bountiful food garden should take a bow, as it’s a first class offering. We are truly spoilt for choice and take care to pay homage to all the fresh produce on our doorstep by making sure it appears on your menu wherever possible, from local game shot on the moors to lamb and aged Exmoor beef. Our seafood is bright eyed and shiny scaled, sourced from the coves of Devon and Cornwall to arrive fresh on your plate.
